Bosnia beats Iceland in packed Tuzla arena

The Bosnia national basketball team played its' 2nd game in the 2015 Eurobasket Qualifiers, defeating Iceland 72 : 62 in a packed house in Tuzla's Medan arena.

Our national team opened up the contest poorly, as they went 4 minutes without a point. Luckily, Iceland wasn't having much luck either, as the score was only 2 : 0 following 4 minutes of playing time.

That all changed when Mirza Teletovic entered the game, however, as Bosnia then went on a 14 to 0 run, before finishing the first quarter ahead, 22 : 10.

The 2nd quarter opened up fairly slow as well, with Iceland even narrowing our lead down to only 4 (29 : 25), before Teletovic once again took matters into his own hands. At half time, Bosnia-Herzegovina lead 34 : 27 over Iceland.

Bosnia head coach Dusko Ivanovic's half time speech must have had an effect on our players, as they came out on fire, bringing the lead up to 14 after only 3 minutes of play.

Then, even though Bosnia had a 56 : 33 lead going into the 4th quarter, Iceland wouldn't give up. With only 5 minutes left in the game, Iceland had narrowed the lead down to only 7 (59 : 52).

But once again, Mirza Teletovic prevented Iceland from making a historic comeback, as Bosnia finished out the game with a final score of 72 : 62.

Mirza Teletovic was once again the leading scorer for our team, scoring 29 points and even adding 12 rebounds to go along with it.

Bosnia-Herzegovina plays Great Britain again in Sarajevo on August 24th, before finishing off qualifications in Iceland on August 27th.
