Bosnia eliminated from Handball World Championship

In what was a must win game for both national teams, it was Bosnia that ended up on the short end of the stick, as it earned its' third loss of the tournament to Tunisia, and was officially eliminated from it as a result.

With a final score of 24:27, Bosnia has now gone with a record of 1 win & 3 losses in 4 games, with only one game left against Croatia. Since only the top 4 teams make it out of the group, it is statically impossible for Bosnia to advance to the knockout stage.

An incredible game for all 60 minutes, there were many lead changes throughout, At some moments, it looked as though Tunisia had the game in the bag, only for Bosnia to come back with vengeance and then look like they were the ones that were going to be the victors.

In what was yet again another slow start for the Bosnians, Tunisia started off the game with a 1:4 lead, with Bosnia quickly regaining focus this time and then cutting that lead to 5:6.

The rest of the first half went that way, with both teams trading goals constantly and Bosnia only taking the lead once. Even though it looked like we were going to go into halftime with a 14:14 tie, Tunisia stole a goal with 10 seconds left with a belter from the left back, and took a 14:15 lead going into the break.

As the second half got under way, it became apparent that the Portugese referees were not on Bosnia's side. Even though both teams were playing relatively rough defense, it seemed as though only the Bosnians were the ones being punished with 7 meter penalties and 2 minute suspensions.

Regardless of this, Bosnia persevered and had a 24:22 lead with 6 minutes left in the game. However, it was at this point that the officiating become unbearable. In a span of 30 seconds, the referees handed out 2 minute suspensions to two players on two different plays, one of which was a very soft foul, the other of which there was almost no contact.

After this unfortunate series of events, there was no looking back for the Tunisians, as they scored 4 straight to take a 2 goal lead with 1 minute left.

Regardless, even though we all might feel as though Bosnia could have done more in this tournament, this team achieved success by qualifying for its' first tournament and paving the way for future generations to do the same.
