Dzeko signs for Roma

After months of speculation, AS Roma have officially confirmed the signing of Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko.

Despite the deal looking dead several times over the past few weeks, Roma officially announced today the long awaited signing of Edin Dzeko.

The Bosnia-Herzegovina international has been training with the Giallorossi throughout this week, but the deal met a series of delays so it wasn't officially announced until today.

The deal was announced to be a 1 year loan for €4 million with a conditional purchase clause set at €11 million at the end of the season, meaning if certain criteria are met, Roma will be required to purchase the striker.

However, even if for some reason Dzeko doesn't meet the criteria, there is no doubt Roma will exercise the purchase option regardless, as at this price, Dzeko comes in at a steal.

Eager for a new start, Dzeko made it no secret to Manchester City officials of his desire to join the Italian side earlier this summer, where he would join his fellow international teammate Miralem Pjanic in an attempt to bring the Scudetto back to Rome.

"AS Roma are delighted to confirm the signing of Bosnian international Edin Dzeko from Manchester City,” the Giallorossi confirmed on their official website.

"The 29-year-old striker put pen to paper on a contract with the Giallorossi today after successfully completing his medical in Italy.

"Dzeko has been one of the most sought after forwards in Europe this summer after he made it clear he was ready for a new challenge after a four-year stay in the English Premier League."

Dzeko is now free to make his Roma debut in Friday’s friendly against Sevilla. The player will be presented to fans and media Thursday.
