Bosnian handball team earns new loss

After being eliminated from the main tournament field in the Handball World Championship by finishing 5th in their group, Bosnia earned a new loss in the battle for 17th-20th place teams, this time against a tough Belarus.

After a close intro to the game, Bosnia ended up pulling away slightly, leading by 2 goals at one point. However, for the rest of the first half, it was all Belarus as they dominated us both offensively and defensively.

Perhaps in part due to all of the emotional troubles they went through this past week, Bosnia was not on its' game today, as they were down 16:20 at halftime.

After halftime, Belarus only continued to extend their lead, soon building that lead up to 7 goals midway through the 2nd half. Bosnia simply could get nothing going offensively, and defensively, they had no answer for Siarhei Rutenka, who finished the game with 9 goals. Senjamin Buric, on the other hand, led Bosnia with 6 goals.

Throughout the whole game, the Belorussians kept capitalizing on our turnovers, and also used the size advantage they had in the block against us.

Following several more goals and a few more fantastic saves from their goalkeeper Ivan Matskevich, Belarus coasted to victory at the end of the game, with the final scoreline being 29:37.

Bosnia's final match at the 2015 Handball World Championship will be in a battle for 19th place against Russia, who were last beat by the Czech Republic this afternoon.
