Edin Dzeko in talks for contract extension with Manchester City

The Bosnian international announced he is close to signing a new contract extension with Manchester City.

Edin Dzeko's current deal ends this coming summer, and City have have made it a main priority to keep hold of Bosnia's all time leading scorer.

Playing a large part in Manchester City's title last year, Edin has become a key member of the English side, and will play an even bigger role this year with Negredo's injury.

The Bosnian Diamond recently revealed that contract extension talks were well underway.

"I've been here for four years already and I only feel better and better. This past season was the best one for me, but I want to get better every year and score more goals. I am 28 years old and am in the prime of my career. We are talking about a contract extension, and it is very possible that I will stay here for several more years," Dzeko said.

Dzeko also all but ruled out a return to Wolfsburg, who have recently been linked to signing the Bosnian back to their side.

"I had a great time at Wolfsburg and it is a club that I owe a lot. But a return to Wolfsburg is not realistic at the moment," the Bosnian said.

Manchester City have not been shy at keeping their current team together, as the table below shows. Only time will tell if Edin will join the bunch.
