Bosnia wins in its' debut at the Handball World Championship

The Bosnian handball team defeated Iran 30-25 today in its' first ever Handball World Championship match in Qatar.

Bosnia was led by a great team effort, which included 6 goals by Dusko Celica, followed by 4 a piece from Ivan Karacic and Alen Ovcina.

Iran took the lead 50 seconds into the game, only for Bosnia to tie it up and score its' first ever goal at a World Cup thanks to leading goalscorer Dusko Celica.

Afterwards, right back Faruk Vrazalic gave Bosnia its' first ever lead, and the teams traded goals until the 20th minute when Iran took a 7:9 lead.

With 10 minutes left until halftime, Dragan Markovic's men began making many mistakes, which led to a 4 goal deficit to a weaker Iran side (12:16). The team was very much in need of a halftime talk from Dragan Markovic to gather their nerves. And it definitely worked.

Bosnia scored 7 unanswered goals coming out into the 2nd half, giving themselves a 19:17 lead 10 minutes in. After that, there was no looking back for the Bosnians, who were also helped by the fantastic efforts of goalkeeper Benjamin Buric, who tallied 8 saves.

Bosnia will now play a much tougher Austrian side tomorrow night, and with the debut jitters out of the way, we can all expect a much better showing to start off the game as the 2015 Handball World Championship continues.
