Bazdarevic & Gilli in Italy scouting potential national team players

This past week, Mehmed Bazdarevic and his top assistant Stephane Gilli were in attendance at several Serie A matches, as they scouted a couple of potential Bosnian national team players.

The players in question are Ervin Zukanovic and Ivan Martic, the former of whom was a regular national team player for Bosnia prior to the World Cup, before being dropped by Susic for unexplained reasons.

Martic, on the other hand, has yet to represent any national team, even though he is eligible to represent three, which include Croatia, Switzerland, and Bosnia, his country of birth. The 24 year old right back, who moved from Switzerland to Italian side Verona this past year, would make a very quality backup to Bosnia's full back problems, which include an oft injured Mujdza and a defensively liable Vrsajevic.

Per reports, Zukanovic has so far impressed both Bazdarevic and Gilli, so much so that they are very likely to call him up again for Bosnia's next match against Andorra. Zukanovic, who always put out very solid performances for Bosnia, would be a welcome sight to a Bosnian defense that has been hampered by injuries and retirements.

As for Martic, Bazdarevic is definitely said to be interested, but would have to talk with the Verona man first, seeing as he is eligible to represent two other countries. The meeting will occur sometime this week, where Bazdarevic and Gilli can get an even bigger feel for the young defender.

Another player in the Serie A that the two would definitely be interested in is young Milan midfielder Andrej Modic, who is on the verge of breaking into Milan's first team. Modic has so far represented Bosnia at the U-19 and U-21, and is surely not far from earning his first cap in the senior team.
